EXCLUSIVE: Juventus enter new contract talks with Bonucci

Paul goes, Lenardo stays. Juventus knew it was impossible to keep Pogba at the J Stadium as the player wanted to return to his old club and his agent Mino Raiola had been pushing to complete his client’s Man Utd switch.

The situation of Leonardo Bonucci, however, is completely different. Bonucci was attracted by Pep Guardiola’s interest, but has never thought of leaving Juventus and the club is now working to extend the Italy International’s stay at the club.

Guardiola had offered a salary of € 8.5 million bonuses included. Juventus can’t offer as much as that (the most paid player in the squad is Higuain with € 7.5 million), but know they can find an agreement with the former AS Bari man.

Calciomercato.com has exclusively learned that the Old Lady has scheduled a meeting with Bonucci’s agent to offer the player a contract extension and a pay rise. Juventus will offer a fixed salary of € 4.5 million (just as much as Pogba was getting at the club) plus various bonuses which would raise the final salary to more than € 5 million a year. Bonucci’s request is € 5 million plus bonus. An agreement between the two parties, in turn, should not be too complicated to be found.

Bonucci’s contract extension is not imminent, but both the player and the club don’t want to part companies and there is still plenty of time to negotiate a new deal as the player’s contract at the J Stadium expires in 2020.
