EXCLUSIVE Romano: Fiorentina reject Napoli bid for Vecino

    • Lorenzo Bettoni (@lorebetto)
Matias Vecino joined Fiorentina last summer after a one-year spell on loan at Empoli, under current Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.

The 24-year-old midfielder is one of Sarri’s pupils, just like Daniele Rugani, Mirko Valdifiori, Elseid Hysaj and Riccardo Saponara.

Napoli are in desperate need of a central midfielder who can hold a candle to regulars Marek Hamsik, Jorginho and Allan and Sarri has asked the club to sign Vecino, calciomercato.com’s transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano has reveled.

Trouble is, also Paulo Sousa thinks extremely high of the player and the Portuguese manager will never allow Vecino’s departure.

According to Romano, Napoli have offered € 15 million plus bonuses to secure the player’s services, but Fiorentina have rejected Napoli bid as they consider Vecino unsellable.

In the meanwhile, Ajax have asked € 15 million to let Davy Klaassen join the Stadio San Paolo in June. The 22-year-old’s price tag is considered too expensive for the Partenopei’s finances, even if Napoli might start negotiation with The Lancers, in case they won’t manage to get Vecino in January.
