EXCLUSIVE: Stefano Colantuono on the brink as Udinese line up Alessandro Calori

Udinese are staring relegation in the face as the Zebrette are only four points above the relegation zone with 30 points racked up in 28 games. Stefano Colantuono’s side lost their 14th game of the season yesterday falling 2-0 to Serie A strugglers Frosinone.

Fans are furious with the manager who was appointed last summer but has failed to live to expectations since then, despite an encouraging start which saw the Zebrette hitting the headlines with a stunning 1-0 win over defending champions Juventus at the J Stadium.

President Gino Pozzo is understandably not happy too. The Watford and Granada owner expected Duvan Zapata to get more playing time this term, while the team’s captain Antonio Di Natale is not in sync with the gaffer anymore as well as a good part of his teammates.

According to our sources, a decision on Colantuono’s future has been taken already. The club should ask Colantuono to end his contract by mutual agreement, though the manager seems not willing to accept this kind of solution as his deal at the Friuli expires in 2017.

CM.com’s Alessandro Di Gioia also reports that Gino Pozzo will land in Udine from London this evening to carry out negotiations with both Colantuono and the designated new manager: former Udinese and Perugia player Alessandro Calori, whose name should sound familiar to all Juventus and Lazio fans out there.
