EXCLUSIVE: What is happening between Martin Caceres and Juventus?

What is happening between Martin Caceres and Juventus? Why is the Uruguayan's agent, former Roma striker Daniel Fonseca, refusing to speak to Juventus, who haven't heard from him in days now?

So how has this transfer saga gone? Caceres was doing perfectly well during his second stint in Turin, having earned rave reviews during his first season on loan with the club. In fact, the club had been negotiating with the Uruguayan in the Spring of 2015 over a new three-year contract. El Pelado, however, spoiled everything by crashing his car in September, essentially convincing the club to get rid of him. Agent Daniel Fonseca, the former Roma striker, was told in November that Caceres had to find another club.

So who could it be? Fonseca is in constant contact with former club AS Roma, the only team willing to pay slightly more than the €2 million Juventus would want to immediately sell him. Inter and Milan are also chasing the Uruguayan international, but have been turned down just as much as Roma. Giuseppe Marotta doesn't want to reinforce direct Serie A rivals, especially as players of the talent of Caceres are very much respected.

Juventus are increasingly concerned that Caceres may just end up agreeing to a move to Roma anyway, though only for next season. This has yet to swing the club, who are still looking for an offer too good to refuse. They would, as of now, barely have any time to replace him. Coach Max Allegri likes him too, and would want to keep him, irrespective of Andrea Barzagli's injury- which looks set to offer the Argentina a much larger role within the team.

There is even talk among the club's front office that Caceres could be extended, though Juventus' poor relationship with agent Daniele Fonseca would complicate that.
