Exclusive: Why Inter rejected chance to sign Chelsea’s Diego Costa

Inter have rejected a chance to sign Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to our transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano. As widely known, Conte has already told the Spanish striker that he is not part of his plans for Chelsea’s future and the player’s agent Jorge Mendes is working hard to find a top club his client can join this summer.

Diego Costa wants to make return to Atletico Madrid but his move to the Spanish capital can’t be completed before January 2018. The colchoneros, in fact, have been handed a transfer ban which is preventing them from signing new players this summer. Diego Costa is now looking for a team he can join in the summer before moving to Atletico.

Inter have been offered Diego Costa for the next six months as the Spanish striker strongly wants to make return to Atletico Madrid.

The Serie A giants, however, are not interested in signing Diego Costa at all because they can already rely on Mauro Icardi. Even if Inter would be interested in signing the Spaniard, they would not take him on a temporary deal but only on a permanent one. Inter don’t want to be used as a temporary solution for the player and are not going to sign him for only six months waiting for Diego Costa’s move to Atletico.
