Exclusive: Why Milan plan on dumping Bacca next summer | by Andrea Distaso

Milan’s away trip to Palermo today comes with a number of fascinating subplots: the most important of which is Carlos Bacca’s dry streak, the Colombian going on his third run of four games without scoring in league play.

He’s never actually made it to five, something which made Coach Vincenzo Montella say the following thing in a press conference:

“His team-mates should help him bring out all his qualities, but he should also do more to help the team”.

This issue is so much more about what Bacca is doing on the pitch: it’s about a plan that director of sport Alessandro Mirabelli and CEO Marco Fassone have been hatching: that of dumping Carlos Bacca in the summer and looking for someone whose profile matches that of Edin Dzeko.

Why? Because they want the attack to be more unpredictable, and for everyone to participate in the buildup. If M’Baye Niang were to be played up front, he’d be able both to help, but without getting tired enough to affect his sharpness in front of goal.
