FIGC angry at PSG's handling of Verratti operation

It appears that the Italian Football Federation (the FIGC) is annoyed at PSG over the Parc des Princes club's handling of the Marco Verratti case.

The Azzurri's inspirational midfielder will skip France 2016 owing to a sports hernia, which he will have operated on May 16th.

Last week, Laurent Blanc had told media in PSG's pre-match press conference that Verratti “was doing everything to avoid the operation, it's the last thing that can help you get better. He tried all sorts of things before opting for surgery”.

From what Le10Sport can gather, the FIGC didn't like the way the case was handled, and may well have preferred to make the news public at a later date.

Blanc reacted today, saying that “one always has to avoid this operation, and that's what we tried to do. We wanted to communicate the news a bit later, but keeping this kind of information secret in the era of social media just isn't doable.

“Originally, we planned to keep the information secret for a while longer, out of respect for the Italian federation and in order to decide what to do about Marco together”.

Will it be enough to placate an Italy team that suddenly finds itself without Verratti, not to mention key man Claudio Marchisio?
