FOCUS: Higuain's renewal delayed
Saturday evening, the player has dined with his club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis: nothing happened regarding the new contract, but, at least for the moment, the former Real Madrid man has no intention to quit Naples: he knows that his current boss Maurizio Sarri will stay, that his team will play in the Champions League, and that De Laurentiis is ready to offer him up to €8 million per season.
However, the azzurri would like to speed up the negotiations for the renewal, even if for the moment there are not too many risks: Higuain is calm and there is a €94m clause, an amount that only a few clubs can afford. Napoli will then make no discounts on this clause, and they hope that such amount will discourage the eventual suitors, even though El Pipita is really worth such a huge amount of money.
