FOCUS The curious case of Stevan Jovetic: supersub or surplus?

Stevan Jovetic’s situation in Milan is a confusing one, to say the least: marginalized in summer and seen to be on his way out (despite Inter having to pay his obligatory buyout claise of €14.5 million), the Montenegrin has since found himself being thrown in at the deep end in the last twenty minutes against Roma, with disastrous effects.

The fact that the former Fiorentina man - close to his old club in summer - fouled Bruno Peres for the decisive free-kick isn’t just being used as a stick with which to beat Coach Frank De Boer, but also as proof that the Dutchman doesn’t really have favourites at his court, and treats all players equally.

Beyond being the subject of some controversy (Montenegro’s own Coach complained about his lack of playing time), he is now torn between a potentail role at Inter, and a move to China (Jiangsu), Valencia… or Fiorentina!

The Viola argued with Inter this summer over how much of his €3.5 million salary they were due to pay. Could this change in January?
