Former Arsenal man: Why I joined Juventus

Wojciech Szczesny has explained his decision to go to Juventus, saying that “when they call you, you have to go”.

The Polish goalkeeper is seen as club legend Gianluigi Buffon’s eventual heir, seeing as the Italian hasn’t made plans past the World Cup next year.

Interviewed by Mediaset Premium, he said that “I came here because I need to win everything.

“I chose Juventus for their winning mindset. Every day in training I feel stronger and more ready to play for this club.”

Having joined from Roma in the summer for a bargain €12.2 million, this time may come sooner than expected, seeing as Buffon isn’t having such a good time of things of late.

Considered an error-prone goalkeeper in England with Arsenal, Szczesny has looked very good in Italy, playing lights out over two seasons with Roma.

“It seemed a normal choice to me, when Juve call you, you have to go. When you play for Juventus the goal is always to win everything, and it’s no different this year.”
