Every now and again there is a relatively unknown European that moves across the Atlantic and totally lights up American’s MLS. Out of contract after playing last season with Palermo, attacking menace Alessandro Diamanti has been invited to train with the Chicago Fire. Head coach of the team, Veljko Paunovic is hoping to convince the Tuscan striker, currently free to join any club, to sign a contract with the MLS. Diamanti is well traveled, having played throughout Italy and in England. A move stateside could be just the catalyst to allow the 34 year old to show his value as the later stage of his career approaches.
