Former Azzurri attacker invited to train in MLS with Chicago Fire

Every now and again there is a relatively unknown European that moves across the Atlantic and totally lights up American’s MLS. Marco Di Vaio and Sebastian Giovinco are two Italians that have found almost immediate success and stardom in the young USA league. There is now potential for another ex Azzurri player to find his way in the MLS.

 

Out of contract after playing last season with Palermo, attacking menace Alessandro Diamanti has been invited to train with the Chicago Fire. Head coach of the team, Veljko Paunovic is hoping to convince the Tuscan striker, currently free to join any club, to sign a contract with the MLS. Diamanti is well traveled, having played throughout Italy and in England. A move stateside could be just the catalyst to allow the 34 year old to show his value as the later stage of his career approaches.
