Former Spurs flop to snub summer move to Barcelona

It’s pretty safe to say that Tottenham Hotspur fans never really saw the best of Brazilian midfielder Paulinho. After two years in North London, the 28-year-old found himself heading to the Far-East to play for Guangzhou Evergrande in the lucrative Chinese Super League.

Since making the switch his form has improved remarkably; so much so, that he’s now attracting interest from Barcelona ahead of the new European domestic season. Paulinho is enjoying life in China however, and he told GloboEsporte that he may even consider rejecting an offer from the Catalan giants to remain where he is.

He explained that; “There was contact with my agent, yes. There was an offer, yes, and this is all talking. But today I find myself at a very happy moment in my life and in my career. When you meet at a time like this it is difficult for you to decide.”
"There are many things I need to put on the balance to make my decision, and one of the decisions is my happiness. I am very happy to be discussing a situation with a great club that is Barcelona, I think this is priceless”.

“I have no deadline to give an answer; I have been talking to my agent daily. Since the beginning of this conversation I talk to him every other day practically to know details of what has and what has not happened. There is no deadline for me to say yes or no, even because there has to be a conversation between Barcelona and Guangzhou, but the main answer is mine.”
