Four right backs on Juventus’ radar

Though midfield reinforcement is Juventus’ priority in January, Massimiliano Allegri has also asked a defensive right back with strong defensive qualities who can give some rest to the ‘Swiss Train’ Stephan Lichtsteiner.

It is no secret that former Milan manager has found the right balance between attack and defense rotating his wingers. If Alex Sandro plays down the left flak, than he opts for Lichtsteiner to gallop down the opposite one.

Alternatively, If Juan Cuadrado plays on the right, then Patrice Evra, a more defensive option than Alex Sandro, is deployed on the left hand side.

Well, Allegri wants a more defensive player than Cuadrado, who can play when Lichsteiner is not fit (very rarely then) or who can allow him to switch to a four-man defense.

Someone similar to Caceres, by instance, but more mature than the Uruguay International who will leave the club in January.

Juventus’ CEO Giuseppe Marotta has shortlisted four potential signings: let’s find out who they are.

Sime Vrsaljko (Sassuolo) Very difficult to sign in January due to his expensive price-tag (€ 12 million). Anyway Sassuolo and Juve will meet very soon to discuss over Berardi’s future and in that occasion they might also start negotiations for the Croatia International’s transfer.

Widmer (Udinese) He’s been recently linked with Inter as well and Udinese don’t want to sell him in January as they are still involved in the race for Serie A survival.

Jacopo Sala (Verona) Probably the easiest to sign in January. The former Hamburg man can also play as inside right/left.

Gregory van der Wiel (PSG) His contracts with the Parc des Princes side expires in June 2016. Marotta & Paratici are monitoring the player’s performances and they might start negotiations with the French side in case the player won’t extend his current deal.
