Frank De Boer explains differences between Inter and Ajax and why it’s difficult to replace Mancini

Frank De Boer seems to be settling in well at Inter after a difficult start to the season before the nerazzurri turned their fortunes around after a promising 2-1 win over Serie A defending champions Juventus.

The Dutch boss has talked to NOS TV to recount his first months in charge of the Serie A giants.

“I started in a difficult moment. I replaced an Italian manager and you immediately feel pressure around you. It’s a strange feeling that leaves you quite astonished at the beginning.”

“You can’t arrive in Italy like an elephant in a porcelain store. Italy became World Cup champions in 2006 and they look at you like: ‘hey this crazy Dutch guy wants to teach us how to do things’. That’s why I go step by step.”

“Inter are a successful club. You can breathe the winning mentality here. Ajax had it too, but I had to push to do things there, while here everyone has more fun even during trainings. Every single person at Inter is motivated.”

“We have to improve on the pitch, but we’re really strong when we have to keep the ball and we are under pressure.”
