Galatasaray chiefs fly to London for Arsenal midfielder

Reports from Turkey state that Galatasaray chiefs have flown to London to meet Arsenal representatives over midfielder Mohamed Elneny. The 25-year-old Egyptian, who only started 12 games in all competitions last season for The Gunners, is surplus to requirements at The Emirates with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger keen to off-load this summer.

It had looked likely that Elneny would be heading to Leicester City after the two clubs had agreed a fee for the player. That move was scuppered however after the player chose not to head to the East Midlands.

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergun arrived in the capital on Sunday to commence negotiations over a possible switch to Istanbul. The club are understood to be keen to close the deal after failing to land some of their main summer targets and it now looks to be up to Elneny once again as to whether the move goes ahead.
