Galliani to leave Milan, return as League president

It looks like Milan’s Adriano Galliani won’t be remaining at the club for long.

The Gazzetta dello Sport say that Marco Fassone (CEO) and director of sport Alessandro Mirabelli will operate autonomously, while Galliani will be moving to the League, likely to return as president, a role he had from 2002 to 2006.

Though Galliani had promised himself that things wouldn’t change, it now looks like he has told Fininvest that he will end his contract once the Chinese consortium takes over, and amicably settle the deal he has with Silvio Berlusconi, which would have lasted until 2019.

Galliani would, however, push for a reform which empowers the league president role, giving him the chance to boost Italian football. Even Juventus owner Andrea Agnelli has admitted to it.

Will it work, or will trusting a man who is partly responsible for Milan’s decline a good idea?
