Genoa owner: 'We can't hold onto Rincon'

Genoa chairman Enrico Preziosi has revealed that there is transfer interest in Venezuelan midfielder Tomas Rincon, and that keeping him at the Luigi Ferraris will be very difficult.

"Rincon? I know he's a big-team player, but I don't know who has asked after him" Preziosi told La Repubblica.
"He'd be my captain anyday, but I can't keep him, we'd have to triple his salary. I told him that I'd like for him to stay, but if an offer arrives, we'll have to evaluate it".

Rincon has scored 3 goals in 32 Serie A appearances this season.

Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 were very interested in signing the Venezuelan international.

He also had a few things to say about current manager Giampiero Gasperini, whose permanence at the Marassi is in doubt: "We'll see him next week, we know what one another thinks, but I won't let fans dictate what we do.

"When I make a decision, I do it for the good of the club, and don't let people influence me. I need to be in a position to understand what the team is capable of, in which waters it can sail.

"The fans know certain things, but not others. I have yet to make a decision".
