Juventus, Higuain to miss second consecutive start

Gonzalo Higuain is set to miss his second consecutive starting lineup when Juventus takes on Olympiacos tonight in the Champions League. Last week, after struggling out of the gate this season, the Argentinian was not selected by manager Massimiliano Allegri for the Derby della Mole.

The Serie A goalscoring record holder has only deposited twice this season in eight matches. That’s not good enough from a player who commanded a 90 million euro transfer fee from Napoli.

With Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa, Mario Mandzukic, and Juan Cuadrado clicking at the moment, Allegri does not want to tinker with a formula that is working. However, Allegri insists that Higuain is not a problem. “I repeat, for the umpteenth time, that Higuain is not a problem.” He continued, “It would be a problem if he wasn’t a Juventus player.”

“Gonzalo is serene. Regardless of the coach’s decisions, a player has got to work to be ready when asked upon. I decided to leave him out on Saturday, he came on and did well.
