How Niang’s new position could force Bacca out of AC Milan

Carlos Bacca is not living his best moment at AC Milan being going through a goal drought of six games, the longest period of time without scoring a goal since the Colombian joined AC Milan in summer 2015.

The Colombian has been ruled out of AC Milan’s next Serie A game against Empoli and Montella is considering two different options to replace him next week-end.

The first option is replacing Bacca with his natural replacement Gianluca Lapadula but the aeroplanino could move M’Baye Niang to play him as a sole striker with Giacomo Bonaventura deployed as left winger. Niang, 21, played as sole striker under Giampiero Gasperini at Genoa managing five goals in 19 appearances.

The French striker enjoys playing as centre forward and Montella could move him forward in AC Milan’s attack against Empoli. As calciomercato.com’s Andrea Distaso points out, Niang’s new position could force Carlos Bacca out of AC Milan.

No secret that the former Sevilla hit-man is not one of Montella’s favourite strikers even if the Colombian has netted six goals in 13 games so far this season. However, with the former West Ham target who is going to turn 31 next year, AC Milan could consider selling him either in January or, more likely, in the 2017 summer transfer window to free up cash to sign a new winger.

If Niang will deliver good performances as a sole striker, Bacca could be leaving AC Milan amid interest of his mentor Unai Emery who would love to bring the Colombian to PSG.
