How picking a coach could destabilize Inter management; Leonardo unlikely to join

What is the situation at Inter now that Frank De Boer has been fired?

So far, we can report that Stefano Pioli is the Number 1 candidate, he’s expecting a call and has told the club he’s available. Any alternative chosen by the Chinese owners will be just that, alternatives to Pioli.

DG Gardini, DS Ausilio and Javier Zanetti want Pioli over Guidolin, the idea being that an Italian will need little time to adapt. Pioli’s deal with Lazio won’t be an obstacle.

The question is whether Suning will go with their directors, and whether they can afford to delegitimize them again, director of sport Ausilio publicly backing De Boer last Friday, only for the Dutchman to be fired three days later.

The owners have scouted far and wide, essential holding a casting session with Kia Joorbachian providing the names, being Suning’s number one advisor.

He’s offered André Villas-Boas and Laurent Blanc, but both would want longer deals, making them harder for the short term. Then again, Primavera Coach Stefano Vecchi will take over for Thursday’s game with Southampton and this weekend’s tie with Crotone.

Kia has also mentioned Guus Hiddink, who has been named alongside Tata Martino, Marcelino and Vitor Pereira, the former Porto Coach being very popular with Suning.

What about Leonardo? He wants guarantees on his future role with the club, which could be problematic seeing as there are already three directors present. He wants guarantees on his autonomy and powers.
