    Icardi’s Argentina call-up depends on Higuain and Pratto, says Bauza

    Having scored ten goals in 12 league games, Inter striker Mauro Icardi is Serie A’s leading scorer alongside Edin Dzeko at the moment. The Argentinean is being Inter’s best striker over the last three campaigns, but that’s still not enough for Argentina national team boss Edgardo Bauza who has told Fox Sport that Icardi’s call-up depends on Gonzalo Higuain and Lucas Pratto who edge ahead of Inter’s hit-man in the striking pecking order.

    “He [Icardi] can be given a call-up at any time, but it will only depends on the form of Pratto and Higuain”, Bauza has told Fox Sport.

    “We are going to qualify for the world cup and I see myself winning the trophy as well. Brazil defeat was a heavy one, I did not sleep after that game. We played a great game against Colombia. Di Maria and Demichelis were impressing and we conceded no clear-cut chances.”

    ​Bauza was appointed as Argentina national team coach last summer and convinced Leonel Messi to make return to Argentina national team after that the Barcelona star had decided to retire from the International career a few weeks before.

    ​Bauza has yet to give Mauro Icardi a chance with senior Argentina national team. The 23-year-old has only one appearance with Argentina senior team in his career. The former Sampdoria star has 63 goals in 121 games with Inter.
