Injured Medhi Benatia left out of Juventus squad for Pescara clash

Moroccan centre-back Medhi Benatia has been left out of Juventus’ squad for tomorrow’s home Serie A clash against Pescara. The former Bayern Munich defender sustained an injury while on duty with his national team earlier this week and is going to skip the incoming Serie A game of the Old Lady.

Massimiliano Allegri is now short of option in defence as Andrea Barzagli is also out of action with a shoulder injury and will only return in two months time, whilst Giorgio Chiellini has recovered from an injury and has been included in the squad list even if he’s not likely to start tomorrow’s game.

Leonardo Bonucci and Daniele Rugani are the only two centre-backs who are eligible to play against Pescara, which means that Allegri could either deploy a four-man defence or use the usual 3-5-2 system with Patrice Evra played as left defender in a three-man line at the back.

Claudio Marchisio has also recovered from an injury sustained with Italy national team and could start the J Stadium clash tomorrow.
