Inter: Champions League place main objective for new manager Pioli

Stefano Pioli took his first training session at Inter yesterday and has held his first press conference today. The Italian manager has confirmed that Inter’s main objective is to qualify to Champions League and our reporter Pasquale Guarro was at Inter’s training centre today to give us some updates on Pioli’s first press conference as Inter boss.

“I am delighted to be here and to set on this bench. I am motivated and I know I have many responsibilities. I’ll give my best for this club. This group has great values, I sure about that, we have eight important games ahead now and I’ll need everybody to be fit. I wanted Samuel to join my backroom staff because I know his behaviour on the pitch and he can be important for this group."

“Our objective is to qualify for the Champions League, but I can’t make promises, I am here to work hard. I don’t know how many points we may need to snatch our objective, but I want to see passion from all my players. Gabigol is training well, I’ll need him too.”

“I expect a lot of Candreva, he can be very important for us, we have to think as a team. There is no perfect system, I won’t be able to make too many changes at the beginning because we don’t have too much time and there will be important games straight away.”

Icardi can be an example to follow for his teammates, Banega is a very smart and versatile player. We need more than normal performances, we need to go the extra mile if we are to qualify to Champions League, I hope I’ll say that I’ve strengthened rather than balanced Inter once the season ends.”
