Italy's goalkeeper of the future caught driving without a licence

There is little doubt that Mattia Perin is viewed as one of Italy's hottest goalkeeping prospects, and very likely to succeed as Gianluigi Buffon between the sticks when the Azzurri legend retires.

He may have to stay on the path, however, and we don't just mean on the pitch.

According to the Secolo XIX, the Genoa goalkeeper was stopped by police whilst driving without a licence on Wednesday evening. He was returning home from the Grifone's 1-0 defeat to Juventus.

Perin already has some precedent in this, having been arrested on November 22nd, 2014 for drink driving near Arezzano. On that occasions he got away with a three-month suspension.

And his explanation is, regrettably, not a very convincing one.

"I only drove a few hundred yards... I didn't know how to get home otherwise".

    Ever heard of a cab?
