Juve: What Allegri expects from Douglas Costa and Szczesny

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri spoke about his club in the run up to their weekend clash with Atalanta. In particular he focused on two players he expects to lean on heavily in the immediate distant futures.

Douglas Costa arrived from from German champions Bayern Munich this summer in an effort to shore up the Bianconeri attack. Thus far, he has lacked consistency at Allianz Stadium. “He must be more decisive,” said the manager. “He must ask more of himself, especially going towards goal.” He added, “But I am happy.”

The Brazilian has failed to score or record an assist in seven matches for Juventus. The Torino-based club faces stiff competition in Serie A this season, and they’ll need Douglas Costa to improve his performances.

Woijcech Szczesny will be called upon to tend goal. Allegri stressed that Buffon will be rested often this season, as the Polish keeper has proved extremely successful in Serie A. After taking part in the Derby della Mole and Juventus’ Champions League victory over Olypmiacos this past week, he will get that well earned rest.
