Agnelli talks about Pogba's future, reveals his favourite all time Juventus player

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli has released a long interview with Sky Sport Italia, sharing his thoughts about the future of the club and of Italian football.

“Two hours before a game no one can talk to me. I follow games with lot of passion, but once the game ends I have to start thinking as a president again. I have a great relationship with Allegri as I had with Conte. We have directors like Marotta, Paratici and Nedved who are always very close to the team. I’ve always trusted them.”

Buying a foreign club is something we are thinking about, but it’s not a priority. We have to evaluate all options to remain competitive, but there is no uniformity. Somewhere you can finalize big deals in very short time.”

“Every ownership wants to win. Whoever works for Juve can only think about winning. Dominancy is normal, just have a look at Germany, France and Spain. Winning is all that matters to this club.”

“Football and football clubs have changed a lot. Now we have a global dimension. Having a man of the family running the club is important, but Juventus is not only about that. The best thing we did this season is beginning with a trophy and ending with another one.”

“Whoever runs a company must know that the growth must be organic. One can’t ask to raise capitals once every three years, that would mean that the company is not managed properly. We have a great relationship with Exor, but Juventus need to invest every year.”

“We have made an incredible turn-around in the last six years. We’ve halved the club’s debt  and we are now ready and healthy enough to face the economical impact of the next three seasons.”

“We have to fix realistic objectives, without losing ground at hands of other European powers.”

“Italian football has lost its appeal from 2006. Just think about Barcelona’s and Bayern Munich’s ability to rise founds locally and globally.”

“We can’t think that Spain, Germany, France and England have raised their level because they made special laws. We have to understand what do to in the future and ‘protect’ our clubs like they did in Spain.”

“As a fan I’d never sell Pogba, but as a manager, you should ask this to Marotta, because he’s the one in charge of transfer negotiations.”

“It is vital to have a base of 7,8,9 Italian players in the squad. They are those players who know and understand the environment, those who can’t leave home without feeling the fans’ reactions.”

“We wouldn't have turned our season around without Italian players. This squad is the strongest and the most complete of the last few years. We did not expect that slow start, but the final result is what we wanted.”

I am happy with new foreign ownerships. It means they see a reason to invest in Italy. I share the same ideas with Saputo and Pallotta. We’ll carry on working on our brand and our objectives. We own the 63% of the club and that’s not for sale.”

“The most difficult moment was during Conte’s ban. People has already forgotten but that moment was very hard. I’d always defended Conte until he made his choice.”

“Bonucci was not on holiday he was training with the rest of the team to prepare the Coppa Italia final. He was suspended but training against a Primavera defender is very different from training against Bonucci. Letting him leave just to do physical tests would have been madness, just like stages throughout the season.”

“I seriously don’t understand what the Juventus style is. Is that some sort of hair style? If Juventus style means winning then yes, i think it still exists.”

“Tavecchio has introduced an Italian FFP rule that penalized excellences. It is a rule that would be good for Lega Pro clubs.”

“The problem in Italy is that we are lacking of second teams as Primavera players are not good enough to be promoted to senior teams. The only good thing about new rules is the creation of Federal training centres.”

"Juventus helped by referees i just a cliché. People used to say the same about Costacurta's AC Milan. If a team spend the 90% of time inside their opponents' area, they are more likely to be allowed a penalty than who does it for the 10% of time."

"Montero is my favourite Juventus player of all time. The number one."
