A new name looks to have made it on to the Juventus wish-list for January. According to Calciomercatoweb.it, Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is the player in question and the bianconeri see the 31-year-old Brazilian as the alternative to Axel Witsel of Zenit.
 

As we reported on Calciomercato.com earlier today, Juve’s interest in the 27-year-old Belgian looks to have been reignited but with any possible transfer still looking unsure, bianconeri bosses are quickly lining up possible alternatives to bolster their central areas for the second-half of the campaign.
 

Fernandinho, whose contract at the Etihad Stadium will expire at the end of the current season, would not be eligible for the knock-out phase of the Champions League having already represented his current employer, whereas Witsel would due to fact that Zenit were eliminated from the competition at the qualifying stage.   

With Blaise Matuidi (PSG) looking more distant than ever after opening negotiations with the French champions on a new deal in the capital, it could now be a straight fight between Witsel and Fernadinho.
