Juventus give up chase for Barcelona legend
​Speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, technical director Giuseppe Marotta claimed that the Spanish legend was “an impossible target”.
Marotta also explained why: beyond the price of the two-times European Champion, the director also claimed that Iniesta was too attached to Barcelona to contemplate a move away from the Nou Camp.
The Barcelona star’s contract expires in 2018, and he recently told the Catalan press that he wouldn’t “stay at Barcelona just for the sake of it”.
Playing a decreasing amount of games due to injury, the 32-year-old could be sold to clear some room in the wage bill and recruit more players.
Barcelona have begun to feel like an ageing team, with the likes of Andres Iniesta, Javier Mascherano and Ivan Rakitic all struggling to keep up.
