Juventus injury news: Barzagli set to be sidelined for a month

Juventus defender Andrea Barzalgi picked up a shoulder injury during Chievo-Juventus clash yesterday and could remain out of action for one month, according to various reports in Italy.

The Italian centre-back got injured in the opening minutes of the game. He was stretched off and taken to Verona hospital to undergo medical tests with Leonardo Bonucci who replaced him in centre defence.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Barzagli could remain out of action for over a month, but the Italy International’s lay off might be longer if tendons are also damaged. Barzagli was supposed to play for Italy national team against Lichtenstein and Germany during the International break, but the azzurri coach Giampiero Ventura has called Fiorentina defender Davide Astori to replace the unlucky Juventus defender.

Barzagli is not the only Juventus defender who is currently out of action as Giorgio Chiellini could be set for a similar stop, whilst Daniele Rugani is recovering from an injury as well. Leonardo Bonucci and Medhi Benatia are also not in perfect physical conditions.
