Juventus, Napoli target Saponara refuses to rule out future move

It’s been quite a year for Riccardo Saponara. Former Milan hopeful joined Empoli exactly one year ago for just € 4 million, while his price tag is belied to be in the region of € 20 million now.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has netted 12 goals in 31 Serie A games with the Tuscans, registering nine assists and becoming a target of both Juventus and Napoli.
Talking to Tuttosport, the player has refused to rule out future move, though he admitted that he’d only leave the Castellani in June.

“I am reborn since I joined Empoli last year. After a struggling spell at Milan I am the player that I used to be in Serie B between 2011 and 2013”, Saponara told the Italian paper.

“Empoli deserve plenty of credit because they gave me the chance of playing on a regular basis. My experience at Milan was negative, but somehow it helped me to develop my personality, that’s why I don’t consider it a fiasco.”

“I am the first to be blamed for that negative period. I was not mature to play for Milan and I couldn’t take advantage of the few opportunities that they gave me.”

“I haven’t been lucky too. I suffered physical problems, plus atmosphere and ambience at the club did not helped me either.”

“I hope my Empoli form will lead to an Italy call-up”

“I am going anywhere until the end of the season. I am grateful to Empoli and I want to remain to achieve important results with my teammates.”

“I love Serie A and I’d like to play here in the future, but I can’t deny that I wouldn’t mind joining an important project abroad.
