Juventus reject 100 million Chelsea bid for Higuain

Chelsea’s quest for a top name striker continues; having lost out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and having seen their attempts to bring Spanish star Alvaro Morata to Stamford Bridge hit the buffers, boss Antonio Conte has turned his attentions elsewhere.

According to Italian sports daily Tuttosport this morning, the Italian tactician has approached his former club Juventus to enquire about Argentine marksman Gonzalo Higuain. The journal states that the Premier League champions have tabled a colossal €100M (£88M) bid for the 29-year-old which has been immediately rejected by the Turin giants.

Having just ceded Italian international defender Leonardo Bonucci to rivals Milan for €42M, Bianconeri CEO Beppe Marotta is not prepared to lose another of his big stars whose goals helped them retain their stranglehold on Serie A last season whilst delivering them to a Champions League Final.

This is the second time that Juventus have knocked back the advances of Chelsea for one of their players; the Blues having already had a reported €70M offer for Brazilian full-back Alex Sandro turned down.
