Lapadula; "I arrived injured to Milan. I will only leave for a permanent deal"

Milan striker Gianluca Lapadula has been talking to Sportweek about his time with the rossoneri. Having failed to hold down a regular spot since arriving from Pescara in the summer, he began by explaining that; “Before I signed I wanted to know about the project at the club and I went to Milan for a salary that could change my life. From January to May at Pescara I was playing with injuries and during the summer I had problems with the Achilles tendon and pelvis; problems that meant I missed a lot of the preparation. Now I’m well and my story with the rossoneri starts here”.

AGAINST CHIEVO: “In that game I felt very good but I wasted too many opportunities in front of goal. I was not expecting to be substituted so I was surprise when my number flashed up. When I play badly I’m the first to admit it but on Sunday this was not the case”.

THE CHOICE OF MILAN: “I was struggling to believe that Milan were interested so when my agent told me they were, I just said abandon all the others, I only want Milan Galliani told me I was the choice of President Berlusconi”.

COMPETITION IN ATTACK: “Galliani did not tell me that Bacca was staying at the club nor did I ask anything about him. We only spoke of the 4-3-1-2 system that I would be part of, the system I enjoy playing in the most. Today we are playing in a 4-3-3 but when I signed of course, the current coach was not in place. Anyway, during my best season I played in a two up-front.

RELATIONSHIP WITH MONTELLA: “How do I win over Montella? Good question. When he arrives I was on the treatment table and I struggled to get in tune with my teammates. There is still time for me however to try to get a regular place in the team”.

NO TO A LOAN: “Return on-loan to Pescara? I’ve learned that if you go out on-loan in football it does not work. Therefore, if I leave Milan it will be for a permanent move only. I’ve signed a five-year-deal here and I want to become part of the history of this team”.
