Latest: Man City see €49.6m bid for Monaco defender rejected

Monaco have rejected a £44.5m Manchester City bid for left-back Benjamin Mendy. Monaco have seen their latest offer for Benjamin Mendy be shot down by AS Monaco.

The Ligue 1 champions have already rejected a number of bids for the French international, and have not told Pep Guardiola’s side that the £44.5 million they’ve offered isn’t enough.

They are demanding at least £50m for the 23-year-old, who has made eight assists this season.

The Sky Blues want to beef up their defence, and Mendy looked to be hinting at a move to England with a recent Instagram post, in which he wrote “See you soon”.

Guardiola has already had offers of €40-45 shot down, and is overhauling his defence, with Gael Clichy, Eliaquim Mangala and Aleksandr Kolarov expected to be shipped off.

Mendy was expected to sign, forcing the Citizens to go on their summer tour without him.
