Marcello Lippi revealed he would not be afraid to take charge at Napoli although he is a good friend of current coach Walter Mazzarri.

“I admire Walter, who is a good friend of mine and I also appreciate what he has done for Napoli,” Lippi told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“I am 64-year-old and I believe to be ready for anything at this stage so I could take Napoli after Mazzarri.

“The Azzurri fought for the Scudetto last year and finished in a great position. Their run was extraordinary but so was this year’s campaign.

“They will face Chelsea in the 8th finals of the Champions League. I met Andre Villas-Boas last week in Glasgow and he was really worried about this clash,” added the former Italy boss.

“This is a sign that Napoli are respected internationally. However, I told Walter that I felt Napoli made a decision at the beginning of the season: they picked Champions League over Serie A.

“But during my years at Juventus, I learnt that you always have to aim to win all competitions available because if you do so in the end you will reach at least one of the targets,” concluded Lippi.
