Liverpool face competition to land 17 million Algerian full-back

Liverpool look set to face competition in their quest to land Napoli full-back Faouzi Ghoulam. The 26-year-old Algerian international has just 12 months left on his contract at the San Paolo and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked with his services.

According to reports from TuttoMercatoWeb today however, Premier League rivals West Bromwich Albion have also made contact with the Italian club to enquire as to the player’s availability. Napoli are reluctant to see Ghoulam leave this summer and are understood to be holding out for a fee of around £17M.

They had hoped that he would commit to a new deal at the club but talks look to have stalled amidst strong interest from England. Since joining in 2014, Ghoulam has made 98 appearances for the Partenopei and with Napoli at least in a Champions League play-off next season, the idea of moving to a club with no European football like the Baggies, would seem unlikely.
