Liverpool, Juve target offered contract extension with release clause

Liverpool and Juventus target Stefan De Vrij could sign a contract extension with Lazio in the next few days. According to a report of Sky Sport, the Dutchman has agreed to put pen to paper on a contract extension with the biancocelesti provided that a release clause will be added in his new contract with the club.

De Vrij is being linked with joining several Premier League clubs, from Manchester United to Chelsea and Liverpool. Over the last few days, the Reds had emerged as the most interested club in signing the Holland International given that they had retired from the race to sign Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk.

Juventus are also being linked with welcoming the player’s services, as the Old Lady may be looking for a solid replacement for Leonardo Bonucci, should he decide to leave Turin in the summer.

Although De Vrij seems close to signing a contract extension, there is still no agreement regarding the player’s potential release clause. The player want to set it at € 20 million, Lazio believe that the right release clause to include in the player’s contract is € 30 million.
