Liverpool raise the stakes in their pursuit of Naby Keita

Liverpool are ready to launch a massive £70M bid for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita. The Merseyside giants have already had a £57M offer rejected by the Bundesliga side but coach Jurgen Klopp is determined to get his top summer priority at all costs and according to The Mirror, is prepared to shatter the clubs record transfer fee to do it.

The player himself has reportedly told his current employers that he wants to move to Anfield despite constant statements from club officials that he will not be leaving this summer. The 22-year-old has a clause in his current deal which will allow him to leave next summer for a fee of €55M; Liverpool however, are not prepared to wait and are convinced they can grab his signature before the start of the new 2017-18 campaign.

The Reds smashed their club record transfer fee last month when they paid AS Roma £36.9M for Egyptian frontman Mo Salah, that figure will pale into insignificancy if they managed to bring the Guinean international to the Premier League.
