Liverpool ready to make club record bid for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Reports in The Express state that Liverpool are to make another attempt to land England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The journal also states that boss Jurgen Klopp is ready to smash the clubs record transfer fee for a player by offering Arsenal £40M for the 23-year-old.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who scored his country’s opener in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Scotland, is understood to be on the verge of signing a new deal at The Emirates worth £100,000-a-week but as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal, Klopp is ready to try to convince the player to move to Anfield ahead of next term.

The journal also states that with the chase for Roma star Mohamed Salah on-hold due to the Italian club’s £35M asking price, the German tactician sees the man from Portsmouth as a better value for money signing. Also after the Merseyside club’s chase for Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk ended in farce, Klopp wants to bring some credibility back to the club by bringing in a high-profile name.
