Lazio President Claudio Lotito has been speaking to Il Messaggero about the season ahead. He began by declaring that; “We are better than Roma this year, on that I have no doubt. We have a European ranking that is higher than the giallorossi and the club now has a solid financial foundation; other clubs are in danger of being overwhelmed by debt in the next three years”. The patron also confirmed that his captain, Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia, was close to a contract renewal at the club.
 

Lazio have offered an extension to the 30-year-old taking him until 2020 with an option of a further year. The salary will be €2.5 million plus bonus which could see Biglia earn over €3million a year in the Italian capital.
