Man City want 23-year-old star but club demand £43.7m

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly targeting Benfica right-back Nelson Semedo, according to Ninety Minutes Online.

The Catalan manager is looking to bring the hot prospect to the Etihad this summer in order to strengthen the right-back position at Man City.

His former club Barcelona were also keen on the services of Semedo, having reportedly held talks with the player previously.

But the La Liga giants were unwilling to spend Benfica’s asking price of £43.7m, nor would they agree to any of their players going in the opposite direction.

City, it seems, will also be asked to put their hand in their pocket to draw out a large sum, as they will be given the same demands by Benfica than that of Barcelona.

The Eagles currently have the 23-year-old on a deal until 2021, and the contract also contains a release fee of £52.4m, but it’s reported that they are prepared to let the highly-rated player leave the club for less.
