Man United chase Liverpool target to replace Ibrahimovic

Manchester United are set to enter the striker market, as they will not offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new deal.

The Red Devils are very interested in Alexandre Lacazette. Also wanted by Atletico Madrid, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, the 26-year-old scored 37 goals (to Zlatan’s 28) in all competitions last season, reaching the Europa League semi-finals.

The Swede went down with a major injury at the end of last season, but reports initially indicated that Manchester United would give him a new contract.

The former PSG and Barcelona star went down with a serious cruciate ligament tear in the second leg of their Europa League win against Anderlecht.

According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils are shopping for another striker because they don’t think that Zlatan can recover.

This follows reports from L’Equipe, indicating that Manchester United were strongly pursuing Lacazette as a replacement.

The French international was thought to be on the verge of joining Atletico Madrid, but no deal has materialised on that front.
