Man United nearing signing of €40m defender

Manchester United are very close to nabbing Victor Lindelof for €40 million.

O Correio de Manha confirm that the Swedish international will join Manchester United for €34 million, with six million more being paid out if certain performance-related and results-based targets are met.

Jose Mourinho is set to seal the deal after June 9th, when Sweden travel to Paris to face France in a Russia 2018 qualifier. Perhaps the chance to meet his agent and seal the deal?

Lindelof was recently linked to Manchester United again after nearly joining in January, though problems emerged in the shape of a payment to be made to the 22-year-old’s former club, Vasteras.

The Swede himself seemed dismissive of the move, recently claiming that “there will always be transfer rumours.

“I’ll say what I’ve always said, that I have a deal with Benfica”.

Benfica’s president, Luis Filipe Viera, recently flew to Manchester recently to negotiate the potential moves of both Lindelof and team-mate Nelson Semedo.
