Man United told £40m midfield superstar is not for sale

Manchester United’s chances of landing Radja Nainggolan are slim indeed, despite the fact that they are among the highest bidders for him.

The Mirror confirm that current club AS Roma won’t negotiate at all over the Belgian, who has also interested Chelsea and Inter in recent months. Man United were reported to be ready to spend £40 million for him.

The all-action Belgian international is one of the most respected midfielders in Europe, and has long been in Jose Mourinho’s plans.

Having already lost Mohamed Salah and seen Kostas Manolas and Antonio Rudiger almost out the door, there was a feeling that the Giallorossi were selling off their most valuable assets.

But new sporting director Monchi has let potential suitors know that Nainggolan won’t leave, and is a key player both for Roma’s future and their dressing room.

Mourinho and co were ready to offer Nainggolan 7.5 million euros per season, prompting the Belgian to hint that Roma had promised him more. The two sides have recently reached an understanding, however.
