Man Utd & Chelsea join Inter in scrap for the "New Baggio"

Reports in Tuttosport state that Chelsea and Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Fiorentina play-maker Federico Bernardeschi. The 23-year-old, who has been dubbed the “New Baggio” by the clubs fans, is yet to commit himself to a new deal in Tuscany amid reports of outside interest.

As well as the two Premier League giants, Serie A duo Inter and Juventus are also in the hunt but La Viola would be reluctant to sell the Italian international to the Bianconeri due to the two clubs’ fraught relationship started by the Roberto Baggio saga back in 1990 which continues to this day.

Despite Fiorentina chiefs desperately trying to hang on to the player, it’s understood that bids of around £35M would be considered too good to turn down but the club would prefer if he left to go abroad rather than remain in the peninsula at one of their main rivals.
