Manchester City ready to hijack Real Madrid's quest for Mbappe

Reports this morning state that Manchester City are planning to make a move for Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe and hijack Real Madrid’s plans in the process. After Tuesday’s news that the Spanish giants had agreed a £143M deal with the French champions for the 18-year-old, it seems the chase to land his signature is not over just yet.

According to The Mirror, City officials are in advanced talks with Monaco over a deal which could take the player to The Etihad instead of the Bernabeu. Club chief-executive Ferran Soriano is understood to be in negotiations with Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev to bring this summer’s hottest name to the Premier League.

City have already taken two players from the principality ahead of the new campaign with Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva and French full-back Benjamin Mendy already in place at the club. Despite Monaco being unhappy with what they consider to be an illegal approach from City for their star striker, latest reports suggest business could still be done between the two clubs.
