Manchester United: Darmian calls Mourinho to instigate Old Trafford exit

According to an exclusive in Sunsport this morning, Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian has telephoned his boss Jose Mourinho to try to push through a move to Juventus. The 27-year-old wants regular first-team football next season as he fears his World Cup place (should Italy qualify) in Russia could be in danger if he spends too much time on the substitutes bench.

The Italian champions have cancelled the contract of Brazilian Dani Alves and have earmarked Darmian to fill the role. However, Mourinho is fighting hard to keep his man despite the outstanding form last season of Antonio Valencia which saw the former Torino player fall short of game time.

Juventus want to make the move an initial loan-deal with a view to a permanent deal being struck in the summer of 2018 for a total of around £17.5M. United paid £5M less when they brought him from Torino back in 2015.
