Manchester United: Here's the big loser from Lindelof's imminent arrival

Manchester United will officially unveil Swedish defender Victor Lindelof as their first big summer signing later this week and the arrival of the 22-year-old spells bad news for one player in particular.

Starsport claims that England centre-back Chris Smalling will be the unlucky loser with boss Jose Mourinho deciding that the former Fulham man just isn’t the right fit for Old Trafford. It’s a huge fall from grace for the player who was voted United Players’ Player of the Year in 2016.

The Portuguese tactician’s arrival has limited Smalling’s first-team appearances last term to just 20 and his coach has been highly critical of his commitment to the club after picking up a broken toe whilst on international duty back in March.

The journal understands that West Ham United, Everton and Crystal Palace are all interested in the 27-year-old who has made almost 250 appearances in his seven year spell at Old Trafford.
