Forget Ronaldo - Mourinho tells Man Utd to break world transfer record for this player

Reports in The Mirror this morning suggest that Manchester United are ready to break the world record transfer fee once again this summer. After last year’s purchase of French midfielder Paul Pogba, boss Jose Mourinho has instructed club chiefs to splash out £100M on Spurs and England striker Harry Kane.

According to the journal, the Portuguese tactician has made it clear to United CEO Ed Woodward that he would prefer spending that sort of money on the young England star, rather than bringing back Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Woodward is reportedly ready to sanction the mammoth bid for the Portuguese superstar but Mourinho is believed to prefer that the club go in pursuit of the player who was the Premier League’s top goalscorer last season.

After revelations last weekend that he wanted to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, it seems now that Ronaldo could have a change of heart as he prepares to face the allegations of tax evasion. Boss Zinedine Zidane has reportedly been in contact with the player after he was critical of the club’s lack of support concerning these allegations which he categorically denies.
