Manchester United targeting Real Madrid star after Champions League Final

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United will make a move for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane after Saturday’s Champions League Final. The 24-year-old Frenchman has previously worked with United boss Jose Mourinho when he was in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu and it’s believed he is keen on a reunion at Old Trafford.

Varane has 35 caps for his country and tomorrow will be his third Champions League Final for Los Blancos; Mourinho is ready to bring in new defenders to the club this summer following the capture of Eric Bailly last year and with reports today suggesting that he was close to a deal with Benfica for Victor Lindelof, he could have an abundance of riches at his disposal next season.

To lure Varane to Manchester may not be so straightforward however with his current club keen to bring United goalkeeper David De Gea to the Spanish capital. The Red Devils have already ruled out several player exchanges with Real and believe the player is ready to commit his future to the club and that he has no intention of heading back to his home city.
