Maurizio Sarri complains about fixture list ahead of Genoa clash

Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri held a classic pre-match press conference ahead of Napoli’s meeting with Genoa tomorrow.

“Higuain is eligible to play. His injury was not serious. That was only a contusion. Everyone is fit and I want my players to notice that when we have intensity and we are aggressive it is difficult for everyone to beat us.”

“Genoa are in a good moment too, that would not be an easy game, like usually when Gasperini’s teams are fit.”

“We are only focused on ourselves. We expect nothing from Juventus. There are nine games left, that’s all we care about.”

With Napoli-Genoa scheduled for Sunday at 6.00pm, one hour after the Turin derby will be over, Maurizio Sarri has complained about the fixture list as he believes the two title contenders should play at the same time.

“ You already know my thoughts on this issue. I don’t like it because I think it is not fair. Playing at the same time is ideal. Playing at 6.00pm, then it’s even worse. There is no daylight, but it is not night time either. Games at 12.30 pm are also very bad. No players want to play at that time.”

“I am enjoying the last part of the campaign. There are many things which are making it a thrilling and stimulating one. My future is in the next nine games. I’d been coaching in Serie B for five years and Serie C [Italy’s third division] for as much time. I’ve been through worse.”

“Hamisk has to carry on dreaming. Motivations are coming from dreams, so he has to. They say it’s a pleasure to work with me and for me is a pleasure to work with my players. I am happy they are enjoying [their time here].”

“Most of times we forget football is just a game. If we have fun while playing it, we can give the 101% percent rather than the 100% and at this stage of the season that could make the difference.”
